bellerinDynamic full back Hector Bellerin has continued to perform in the first team squad to the extent that he ended 2015/16 in the PFA Team of the year. Bellerin is my current favourite Arsenal player for many reasons. Hector has firmly established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice right back.

Priorities for many clubs have changed. Instead of using traditional wingers who hug the touchlines, many teams now look to their full-backs to provide the width. Speed and pace is key, defenders don’t like being run at. The goal tally in the Premier League is increasing year upon year, tactics are changing and teams are playing more offensive.

Having previously played for Barcelona, Hector joined Arsenal as a scholar in 2011 and impressed at youth level before making his first team debut in September 2014. Since then, Bellerin has established himself massively and is set to be one of Arsenal’s greatest ever full backs.

Bellerin has scored 3 goals since breaking into the first team. His first came against Aston Villa in the 2014/15 season. Arguably Bellerin has had many standout performances which have attracted me to him as a player.

Tottenham 2 Arsenal 2  – Saturday 5th March 2016. His standout performance in this game was backed up with his two incredible assists that set up the Ramsey and Sanchez goals to recover a point for Arsenal.

Arsenal 2 Bayern Munich 0 – Tuesday 20th October 2015. Bellerin used his lightening quick speed to take on the Bayern defenders to set up the goal for Mesut Ozil in the 94th minute to confirm the win for Arsenal.

Swansea City 0 Arsenal 3  – Saturday 31st October 2015. Another memorable moment included a superb defensive run and last-ditch recovery to deny Bafetimbi Gomis away at Swansea. He helped Arsenal to keep a clean sheet.

Arsenal 3 Chelsea 0 – Saturday 24th September 2016. Arsenal produced a devastating first-half display to dismantle Chelsea. Bellerin was the key to keeping a clean sheet. When it looked almost certain that Chelsea would score when Pedro was through on goal, along comes Bellerin with an important tackle to keep Chelsea out.

Hector Bellerin’s performances over the past three seasons have persuaded me to get him on the back of my shirt for the 2016/17 season. He will be vital to Arsenal’s title challenges in the upcoming seasons and his exciting future is yet to come.
