I was lucky enough to go the game today on a cold snowy afternoon. The skies were sleeting and the stage was set at the Emirates. Arsenal started well and looked in control of the game from the first whistle. During the first half we had many chances, Bellerin was clear through on goal and hit wide. Sanchez also had a chance which he hit just past the post. Finally in the 34th minute, break- through. After great play from the gunners, Gibbs shot was blocked on the line and there was Sanchez to tap in the rebound. The first half score was 1-0 Arsenal.

The second half was very different from the first, with Hull dominating the possession for most of it. Arsenal seemed to be very relaxed with the 1-0 score line and weren’t pushing for a second. Hull started to see an opportunity to grab a point from this game. Cech pulled off some great saves to keep Hull out. It surprised me how late Welbeck and Perez were introduced to the game. The match was calling out for these two in the second half to give that extra spark.

It was almost looking like a 1-0 win to the Gunners, but in stoppage time Arsenal countered and Jakupović ran out of the goal to close down Sanchez who took it past the goal keeper. He crossed it back towards goal where Perez was unmarked, a powerful header from him was hand balled on the line by Clucas who saw a straight red. There was only one man who was going to convert the penalty…Alexis Sanchez! 2-0 Arsenal was the final score. Wasn’t the most comfortable of wins but the 3 points are ours. Onto Bayern Munich.
